Natural gas boom is a good thing
In his Feb. 1 letter to the editor, Christopher Marsh said, “I am outraged that somebody has allowed the beautiful rural neighborhood in which I live to become an industrial zone.” He was complaining about the wells and associated activities that are part of the natural gas industry.
I wish that I owned rural land so I could cash in on the natural gas boom.
Prosperity always comes at a price. Often this price affects the natural order of things. Now Marsh knows how the white-tailed deer and other woodland creatures feel about man’s intrusion into pristine rural land. We as a nation need to depend on our own natural resources to secure our future, so ultimately the natural gas boom is a good thing. Many rural families are making huge amounts of money from gas royalties and others make more modest amounts.
We city dwellers get nothing.
Remember, nothing lasts forever and when the gas wells are played out and the money is gone, what will we say then?
