We won’t get fooled again
OK, let me understand this: The federal government is going to change its cholesterol guidelines so we can now eat more eggs and bacon.
Hallelujah! It’s a miracle!
Since 1961, officials told us eggs were harmful because they increase cholesterol levels. Now, 54 years later, they have figured out they were wrong. Oh, they can’t say the word “wrong,” or they made a mistake, so they say it is no longer a “nutrient of concern.” It sounds like a suspect in a murder.
This the same government controlled by sages who told us to use margarine instead of butter, only to find out years later that margarine turns out to be made from hydrogenated oils which are so much worse than butter. They have made it illegal to use sassafras roots to make tea, even though research has shown that, although the chemical in sassafras that causes cancer in mice does not cause cancer in the human body, it is still a “chemical of concern.”
Even though it was wrong in the past, the government assures us that it can be believed this time. So if you do believe them now, remember the old adage: Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me.
