Say no to labels

1 min read

Someone recently asked advice columnist Mary Jo Podgurski, “What do I call myself?”

Why do we want labels? Notice people for their actions. Families with children who have disabilities are fighting to see that their children are seen as people, not as labels. When people look at a label, they fail to see the unique person. This is dehumanizing.

I understand people want to be accepted and want others to accept their beliefs. Believe it or not, people can accept someone and not believe the same way. God wants us all to love one another. Please see others for the unique individuals they are. We don’t need to attach labels to people, as it causes more harm than good.
