Democrats are socialists

1 min read

In your April 30 editorial, you called Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, a socialist. In that same sentence, you refer to those who put the socialist label on President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as “the more delusional among us.”

Later, in the same editorial, you quote Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz as saying Sanders “demonstrates the values we all share as members of the Democratic Party.”

My 10th grade geometry teacher taught me there is no such theorem as “equals, equals, equals.” It applies in this case. If Sanders is a socialist, and demonstrates his commitment to the values of the Democratic Party, wouldn’t that make the whole of the Democratic Party, including Obama and Clinton, socialists?

Do the editorial writers a the Observer-Reporter read what they write, or are they the more delusional among us?
