No cross-filing for appellate court ballots

2 min read

A column by Gary Stout in the Monday Observer-Reporter on choosing Pennsylvania Supreme Court candidates mistakenly said that these candidates “are able to cross-file on both ballots in the primary election”. In Pennsylvania, while cross-filing is allowed for those running for common pleas court judge and magisterial district judge, candidates for appellate courts may not cross-file.

For the three open seats on the Supreme Court, ballots next Tuesday will list six candidates on the Democratic ballot and six candidates on the Republican ballot. Interesting videos of three recent forums presenting these candidates are available on PCNTV.com. Look on the PCNTV website for debates sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania for both the Democratic and Republican candidates, as well as for the forum sponsored by The Philadelphia Bar Association for all candidates. For further information about these candidates and for those running for spots on the superior and commonwealth courts, see the Voters Guide at www.palwv.org.
