Stop whining Peters teachers

1 min read

As the Peters Township teachers strike continues, more than 4,000 students are being used as pawns. A work interruption in education serves no purpose, other than allowing 285 teachers to draw attention to the issues of salary, health-care costs, class size and length of the work week. These issues pale in comparison to having no sick days at all, or stopping child labor, or providing benefits to workers who have none.

An article in The Almanac stated that Peters Township ranks 15th in Western Pennsylvania in the salarey it pays it teachers. If the Peters teachers are not satisfied with their jobs, there are other places to look for employment.

Let’s stop the whining and quit throwing dead squirrels. Let’s remember the average salary is $71,540 per year and 62 percent of the teachers earn between $45,000 and $63,000 per year. The teachers need to get back to their professional duties of educating future generations. The district and the teachers need to negotiate or mediate daily until both sides come to an agreement.
