Ten Mile Creek appreciated
I am writing this letter in support of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocking trout in North Ten Mile Creek throughout Marianna and Clarksville. It is wonderful to see the progress brought by local organizations that have stocked trout over the years.
Ten Mile Creek throughout these communities is fantastic for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. There are also numerous creek accesses being built and providing access to all, including those with disabilities.
As a disabled veteran, I really appreciate the efforts put into improving access for people with disabilities, especially since there is only one accessible trout-stocked stream in Southwestern Pennsylvania. As an added bonus, I have caught trout from October to the middle of July in Marianna. I have fished the Youghiogheny River at Confluence and Ohiopyle, and found it to be much less accessible than North Ten Mile Creek in the Marianna area.
I have attended several events along North Ten Mile Creek. I have witnessed the large volume of traffic caused by the stocking of the trout and by the numerous events directly related to the waterway. The support of the communities and businesses nearby has been tremendous and appears to be steadily improving.
