Christians should stand firm

2 min read

I find a lack of respect and professionalism in the name-calling of Kentucky clerk Kim Davis in your Sept. 11 editorial, “Kim Davis is not a hero.”

This country was established on religious freedom. The freedom that thousands of Americans fought and died for is based on Judeo-Christian beliefs. Have we become a people offended by these beliefs?

There are a lot of things that offend me. Do I have to be around that sort of thing, or can I stay away from it? There are other clerk of court offices in Kentucky. Gay people could go elsewhere. Did you ever think gay people just want to make a show?

Why is it that people of other religious beliefs, or those who have no religious beliefs, are slowly changing the country by ripping at its foundation? Yes, Christians reach out to all people to ask them to believe in God and the love of Jesus Christ, but we do not cut their heads off if they don’t comply. We pray for them and let God do the rest. It is called freedom of choice. Why are we, as Christians, forced to change? Why are we, as Christians, told we cannot display our beliefs any way we choose and stand firm on those beliefs? If you don’t like them, you can walk away, find someplace else to go, or don’t listen. It’s your choice.

I applaud Davis for taking a stand and pray more Christians stand firm and stop a few people from destroying the American way of life.
