Fox should charge inmate

It’s good to see Greene County District Attorney Marjorie Fox is charging an SCI-Greene inmate for stabbing a corrections officer, as reported in the Observer-Reporter Tuesday. But Fox still refuses to charge another inmate serving a life sentence who stabbed one of our officers no less than 12 times.

The Pennsylvania State Corrections Officers Association met with Fox last week and asked her to change this strange policy of not charging with crimes inmates who are serving life sentences. It’s clear she isn’t inclined to change her mind.

This sends the wrong message to violent inmates. It’s a dangerous message that threatens corrections officers and others who work in the prison and live in Greene County. These officers are our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and friends. Her soft stance on crime against our state’s most dangerous criminals should concern everyone.
