Kudos to Peters Township Councilman David Ball for his excellent response to the comments about natural gas drilling by Jeff Kotula in the Observer-Reporter’s Energy Report. Ball’s commentary appeared in the Tuesday edition of the newspaper.

It is critical for these kinds gas-industry misrepresentations to be countered with facts and Ball did so effectively and with alacrity. Some citizens of other municipalities in Washington County must wonder why they don’t have equally effective leadership.

While I’m at it, I want to compliment the Observer-Reporter for presenting some of the best-reasoned and thoughtful homegrown editorials of any newspaper in the region, including both of the Pittsburgh papers. When I first subscribed to this paper, it was solely for local news, but I have been very much impressed with your excellent editorial efforts. Thanks and keep up the good work.
