The O-R’s not-so-lucky duck
There’s an idiom we use to describe an easy target or likely victim: a sitting duck. Such a likely victim showed up at the Observer-Reporter this week, and she was – literally – a sitting duck.
The mallard was found nesting 13 eggs in a flower bed on the newspaper’s property. Duck and eggs were removed by Wildlife Conservation Officer Richard Joyce to a more suitable location.
That was a much better solution than the alternative: a police escort for mother and her eventual chicks all the way down South Main Street to Catfish Creek.
