Bring back carol singing
In this climate of political correctness, Christ is being taken out of Christmas.
One example of this is the increasing absence of hearing carols sung in public places. If one hears them at all, they’re almost always rendered in an instrumental form so the words are not heard. Instead of Christmas carols, one hears traditional and modern secular “Christmas” songs. I am happy to have secular Christmas music as well as music of Kwanzaa and Hanukkah and music of any other tradition celebrated in December included. But to exclude carol singing in public places in the Christmas season is inappropriate. Why? Well, imagine excluding patriotic music for Independence Day, Memorial Day, or Veterans Day. Would that not be considered inappropriate?
While not diminishing any other non-Christian tradition in the Christmas season, it’s time to put Christ back into Christmas. Bring back carol singing!
