Kudos to Mike Buzzelli

In a Jan. 3 letter, Philip and Mary Berry expressed their dislike for the work of columnist Mike Buzzelli. Yes, we all know that there are important, serious issues out there – homelessness, fires, diseases, tornadoes, suicides, and more. But the newspaper shouldn’t be all doom and gloom. There is plenty of that on television.
If the Berrys are so bothered by Buzzelli’s column, then why do they read it? I skip over the sports section, the classified ads and most of the comics. Why do they feel the need to bash someone who is just sharing a bit of humor in this often humorless world? I look forward to Laura and her farm life and crazy household antics, Beth and her successful battle against cancer, and especially her college-aged son ignoring her on campus.
There is sadness, heartache and gloom everywhere, so kudos to those three for lightening things up.
