The road to “Hit the Road, Jack”

Lawmakers in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C., have something in common: With regard to budgeting and other partisan battles, they really are “rockin’ and rollin'” to the oldies, in a severely twisted manner.
On budgets, instead of “taking care of business,” they seem to “love to work at nothing all day.” It must be nice with a stable salary and untouchable health-care benefits.
Common folks adopt a simple but effective “plan your work, then work your plan” strategy. We strive to survive. In the business world, where budgets are called profit plans, they are completed prior to a fiscal year’s activities.
All legislative bodies should listen to the Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” over and over again. In Pennsylvania, folks should accurately identify the true “jokers” because “they never get annoyed, ’cause they’re all self-employed,” or employed by others who ignore true and valid public interests in favor of personal gain.
When we vote these scoundrels from office, we can call the request line to hear the song “Hit the Road, Jack.”
