The skunk in the room

Watching Donald Trump take charge of the Republican presidential race was an attention-getter and a breath of fresh air. He was saying things we all wanted to hear.
But last week, as he tried to pull a rabbit out of his hat, he instead pulled out a clown.
We all gasped as we watched former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin run up on the stage and spew out her rant of incomprehensible babble. When she uses the words “you betcha,” it makes me wonder who Trump is playing to this time. We can all agree that the decision to have Palin as John McCain’s running mate in 2008 was a complete disaster and a classic failure of political strategy. Trump’s decision this time has put him on the same path that McCain was on.
Remember the old words of wisdom: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” The only people who would vote for Palin are the ones who would rush out to buy the $700 top she was wearing. She obviously doesn’t represent anybody who thinks clearly and has to work each day. The hard-working taxpayers of America deserve better than a clown who doesn’t know when to go away.
Her presence really isn’t like the elephant in the room. It’s more like the skunk in the room.
