Recycling event a success
I’d like to echo Jim Frazier’s comments about being pleased with a local recycling program that appeared in his letter in the Sunday Observer-Reporter. My wife and I attended the Pennsylvania Resources Council’s household chemical collection event at the Washington County Fairgrounds on Saturday, and the event looked to be a success.
It was my first time attending an event like this, as I had over 50 cans of old paint to recycle – my wife really likes to paint! After arriving, we were surprised to see such a huge turnout of citizens, as well as a plethora of volunteers, all wearing broad smiles. The volunteers swiftly guided us through the collection process, and we never even had to get out of our vehicle. While we were only recycling paint, everything from aerosol cans, oil, antifreeze, batteries, gasoline and more were being accepted. All of the volunteers were kind and courteous, and I hope to see more events like this coming to Washington County in the future.
Now if we could only get such participation when it comes to Washington County’s litter problem.
