Trump is loathsome
Certainly no one is surprised that Ku Klux Klansman David Duke has endorsed Donald Trump for president. The only surprise is that Trump is not wholeheartedly embracing it.
David Duke calculated that his involvement in the Trump campaign would help the candidate, given that Trump has advocated imposing a religious test on those who seek entry to our country, that he is scapegoating religious and racial minorities, and that he becomes more popular with every outrageous and contemptible proclamation he makes, including his recent statement, “I love the poorly educated!”
In a presidential campaign season in which our country is being brought low, the David Duke imprimatur on the Trump campaign provides a new disgrace for our country, if that is possible.
Donald Trump claims to know nothing about David Duke. The more he learns about him, the more he may find him worthy of consideration as a suitable running mate. Given Trump’s expressions of admiration for ruthless dictators like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-Un, embracing Duke should not be much of a stretch.
It increasingly appears that Hillary Clinton will be the only person who can stop our country from being ruled by a lout, a liar, a con man, a know-nothing would-be emperor with no clothes. She would not have been my choice for president, but I will do all within my power to see that she is elected if she faces an individual who will cause me to be mortified to identify myself as an American citizen.
I apologize to my fellow Americans and to the world for the loathsome creature that is Donald Trump.
