No need for a park in Avella
An article in the March 18 Observer-Reporter about a lakeside play area being added to Cross Creek County Park underscores previous opposition to another park being built in Avella.
Jack Knox, in a letter to the Observer-Reporter, stated that Brooke Hills Park, Cross Creek County Park and Cross Creek Lake are in very close proximity to Avella, and another park is not needed. The planned enhancements to Cross Creek Lake should make any attempt to build a fourth park in the tiny village of Avella ludicrous.
The sitting supervisors of Independence Township appear to have no concept of financial responsibility and the taxpayers of the township are paying the price. I would urge the taxpayers of Independence Township to ask supervisors who would pay for the liability insurance, maintenance and security patrols for a new park.
