Flying the mobile coop
Journalism most often is serious business, but sometimes reporters and editors have a chance for fun, in the form of word play.
A good example popped up on the front page of Tuesday’s edition in an article about Washington County’s reassessment.
A Scenery Hill couple received an assessment for something they thought should not be considered: a mobile chicken coop.
Staff writer Barbara S. Miller referred to the coop as “poultry in motion.”
We’re afraid, however, that pun may have escaped the detection of our younger readers. For their sake, we’ll have to explain that the song “Poetry in Motion” was a hit single by Johnny Tillotson in 1960.
Miller should receive a Pullet-zer Prize for that one.
