Trump believes in smaller government
I agree with John Loughman’s Sept. 23 letter to the editor regarding your editorial on Ohio Gov. John Kasich and your constant bashing of Donald Trump.
One of Kasich’s weaknesses in the Republican primary contest was his constant highlighting of his experience in Washington, D.C. He didn’t get it, and neither does the mainstream media. Trump’s attractiveness is that he is not an insider in Washington, D.C., as well as the fact that he believes in smaller government.
Another problem with Hillary Clinton is that she would increase the national debt. Do you really understand what $20 trillion is? That is 20 followed by 12 zeroes. Twenty trillion dollar bills arranged end-to-end would circle the earth 76,000 times or 38 round trips to the moon.
Do Americans want the federal government to be involved in more of our lives? I do not.
They have taken from the Social Security Trust Fund to fund pet projects, and now we are told Social Security is running out of money. There will be no increase in Social Security for seniors on fixed incomes, but President Obama has money for refugees and illegal immigrants. We also have veterans living on the streets and homeless people, but no money to help them. There’s also no money for education or other needs.
As a possible “deplorable” as defined by Clinton, I like Trump because he will be proud of the United States immediately and will not apologize to other nations for how bad the United States has been.
I must also comment on the Sunday letter from Richard Berardinelli about how his ancestors would not have gotten into the United States under Trump’s proposed vetting of immigrants. Individuals who think that way do not realize that the world has changed. Immigrants coming to the United States today do not want to assimilate into the American culture, but change it to the one they escaped. Our ancestors were also proud to be Americans and they worked hard in an environment where they could succeed.
