LETTER Trump is childish, narcissistic
Martin Luther King, Jr. encouraged us to judge others by the content of their character, a reasonable and useful precept. By now, we citizens have heard enough to determine the character of our president. Words like childish, immature and narcissistic easily come to mind. His recent attempt to honor Navajo code talkers, under a portrait of Andrew Jackson, who signed the Indian Removal Act, by telling them he liked them, and then belittling a political opponent with a racial slur, destroyed any sense of honor that was due. That more people don’t find this offensive certainly shows our character.
Mr. Trump uses the word “Pocahontas” to deride. Perhaps he doesn’t know that the real Pocahontas has been considered to be a princess in popular culture, and was the first Native American to be honored on a U.S. stamp, a feat I suspect he will never achieve.
