LETTER Things are not going well for us these days

Seems there are more things wrong today than right. Companies are going bankrupt. You never know from day to day if you’ll have your job. Health insurance has tripled, with deductibles so high you can’t afford to use it. Shop for anything lately? Prices of everything have gone up, and yet packages and quantities are smaller. Wages have not gone up, and in some cases are frozen for years. Utilities keep raising rates with the PUC’s help and the government’s. The gas company put in “smart meters” and now rates have doubled. Cable companies are in control. The middle class is getting squeezed out. You pay taxes and are promised reductions, but those are skyrocketing, too.

The reality is things are NOT better, and there is no sign they will be. When it comes down to it, we as citizens are not involved in decisions anyone makes but our own. And no one wants to admit to making bad decisions. Corruption and greed have taken over, and we watch and are helpless. Yes, it has been going on for a long time, but things are different now. This crazy weather and the tragedies look like someone is trying to tell us something. That maybe someone “up there” is not happy with the way things are “down here.” Not too many people are. It’s scary and it’s sad.

Fix the economy and apply stricter laws to lawbreakers. Start there. Keep God in all aspects of everyday life. Practice the commandments. Stop the fighting and name calling on social media. That is what they want to take away the attention from the incompetence. Keep future generations in mind. My experience and opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own. For now. Merry Christmas.
