Thanks for bringing back local columnists
Since I was one of those who wrote to express my disappointment at the decision to discontinue local columnists in the Observer-Reporter, it is only just that I write again to express my deep appreciation and gratitude that you listened to those who support your paper and have a high regard for local news.
Laura Zoeller, Beth Dolinar, and Kristin Emery are assets to the community and, as many readers shared with you, an important reason for turning to the Observer-Reporter for their local news and happenings.
The happiness and appreciation expressed in their columns printed after the decision to keep them show that this opportunity to write for the Observer-Reporter is more than a paycheck to them. They have also become close to their readers. What a bonus!
If I may make one suggestion: Please consider having a regular spot for these columns, whether on the outer column of a page, or on a “below the fold” spot. It is a show of respect to Dolinar, Zoeller and Emery, as well as Mary Jo Podgurski and other columnists you feature. It would provide readers with a “go-to” spot to find their favorite features, just as you do with editorials and letters to the editor.
