Pollution regulations needed

It’s great to see the residents of West Pike Run Township making their concerns about air pollution from compressor stations known.

Noise pollution is just one of several problems our communities have been forced to face as the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) delays developing and implementing meaningful and safe regulations for the oil and gas industry. In fact, in January, the DEP considered adopting noise regulations, but punted on the issue. Once again, we are waiting for standards to stop the air pollution leaks from oil and gas facilities that are causing troubling health impacts in our communities.

Although Gov. Tom Wolf promised pollution regulations in January, nine months later we have yet to see any concrete regulations being put in place. Our health is on the line, and Wolf should know that our communities cannot wait any longer.
