We have lost our morals

In the 1920s, some people in the United States said that alcohol was wicked. So, to please them, lawmakers changed the Constitution to ban alcohol.

What happened because of this?

There was more violence and crime. So, the 18th Amendment was repealed and alcohol was made legal, but restricted. Still, we have those who abuse alcohol and the laws that control it.

What makes anyone think it would be any different with more guns laws, or if we repealed the Second Amendment, which guarantees the right to bear arms. Bad guys would still have guns, and it would take away protection for individuals.

There is no law to protect us from ourselves. Most of our laws are based on the Ten Commandments, yet we break those laws. The United States is “one nation under God,” but we have forgotten about God. We have put him out of the schools, we find things to do on Sunday rather than attend a church. Nowhere in our Constitution is there a “separation of church and state.” What it advocates is freedom of religion.

The bottom line is we have lost our morals, something or someone to guide us on a peaceful path through this life. We have lost respect for almost everyone and everything except ourselves. If we could get our moral priorities in line, maybe, just maybe, we could “make America great again” and help the world a little, too.
