Fan gear returned
Last week, I packed up our Steelers fan gear and returned it to Art Rooney Jr. at Heinz Field. After the Sept. 24 demonstration by Coach Mike Tomlin’s team, I can no longer support a team that doesn’t support the American flag.
Our American flag is the reason that we have football to entertain us on Sunday afternoons. The flag is the reason that the Rooney organization, coaches and players are millionaires. The flag is the reason we have freedom of speech for all Americans.
When Tomlin took the coward’s approach and sacrificed the right of his players to salute the flag for the protest rights of others, it was an absolute disgrace.
The football field is for playing football, not for airing grievances that have absolutely nothing to do with football.
