Don’t make me choose between flag, football
I was watching the pregame program Sunday before the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears played, and my 7-year-old grandson asked me, “Pappy, why aren’t the football players standing, or (they) don’t come out for the national anthem?”
What do I tell my 7-year-old grandson and millions of young Americans watching?
I love my Steelers and football, but I love my flag and country more. I hope Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the National Football League, and the team owners don’t make me choose between my flag and football. I can assure you it won’t be football.
