LETTER The great divider

I thought I was seeing things when Rebecca Simpson stated in her Dec. 31 letter that she found it “refreshing that Jesus Christ has found his way back into our White House.”

The overblown con man whose followers treat him as a demi-god has none of the values of Jesus Christ. He gives nothing to the poor, and everything to his wealthy cohorts. He is no doubt stuffing his pockets at the expense of taxpayers while selling the concept of a “trickling down” economy. It never worked in the past, because the rich just keep getting richer.

I find it mind-boggling that anyone would find President Trump to be a true representative of Christian values. If anything, he has proven to be a great divider, causing dissension and hatred among people of different faiths and nationalities. Many members of his staff have left, and many have spoken out about the bizarre and incompetent behavior they had to deal with, bowing to an egomaniac who pretends to care about the United States, but has done everything to undermine the values of this nation. Flirting with nuclear war that could turn the world into ashes is frightening even to the people in his circle. Failing to condemn white nationalists who praise the very regime that our brave soldiers died fighting against in World War II shows the ugliness in the Oval Office today.

Remember what the words of Jesus Christ actually were before comparing him to this “great divider.” If anything, he closely resembles another entity in the Bible that so many closely follow. And if they don’t see it, they are not really reading it.
