Veterans could provide security in our schools
Dear President Trump,
My name is Samantha Carter. I am a liberal but am reaching across party lines to the most powerful man in the United States of America. I am a mother of two boys, aged 7 and 12, and I fear for their safety when summer comes to a close and the school year begins.
It has been wonderful to watch TV, play outside and swim with my boys and do not have to hear about another school shooting and children in peril.
I believe I might have a solution to protecting our children in school. Many American veterans are out of work. Why can’t we hire them to protect our children in our schools? I have no doubt that these valiant men and women would take a bullet for our children and do their best to keep them safe. This would take part of burden off of our already taxed police departments and provide the veterans with a mission they can believe in.
I have to be honest, I am not your biggest fan. I have, however, taught my children that you are the sitting president of our wonderful country and are not to be disrespected in our home or anywhere else. I do applaud your efforts in gun control, and I do respect what you do every day.
Please let’s make America better and keep our children safe.
Samantha Carter
