Pipeline infrastructure should be supported

As an informed Pennsylvania resident and member of the Pennsylvania DEP’s Citizen Advisory Council, I am writing in support of Williams’ proposed Northeast Supply Enhancement, a critical investment in the northeast region’s natural gas infrastructure.
I have seen firsthand the benefits associated with increased development of shale gas. There remains a lack of pipeline capacity, however, to deliver natural gas to larger markets. As a result, many communities are being denied the benefits associated with projects such as Northeast Supply Enhancement: family-supporting jobs, generate needed tax revenue and deliver more consumers with reliable, affordable natural gas.
As president of Steel Nation Inc., I am very familiar with the special care put into the construction and operation of this sort of infrastructure. At this Pennsylvania-based corporation, my team has helped design, furnish and build gas compression stations, transmission and storage facilities, sound walls, and we also have expertise in sound mitigation and noise studies. Williams has a long history of developing and operating safe and efficient infrastructure, and I am confident they will handle Northeast Supply Enhancement with the same care and attention.
Simply put, pipeline infrastructure such as Northeast Supply Enhancement is the safest method of transporting natural gas from producers to consumers – and is vital to promoting economic development and promoting true energy independence. I hope our decisionmakers recognize this.
