LETTER Blue wave predicted in fall
Both Terry Madonna and David Ball weighed in on the election results on a recent opinion page. I agree with both that the Pennsylvania Republican Party has become the Party of Trump. However, whether this is good for Republican candidates will not be determined until the November general election. The primary turnout was dismal, and only the most partisan politically minded from both parties bothered to vote. However, one would expect that the mid-term general election will see a significantly more robust voter turnout because of its importance and media attention. As Ball predicts, Washington County may indeed elect Republican representatives to both Harrisburg and Washington. My bet is that the rest of Pennsylvania will go overwhelmingly Democratic as a blue wave sweeps the country as a backlash against the Trump presidency.
