LETTER: Don’t forget about research library
In regard to your Jan. 10 editorial, we agree it is time for an overhaul of the Greene County Historical Society. We know new executive director Matt Cumberledge and are confident he will accomplish marked improvements.
We were taken aback, however, that you appear not to be aware that a well-respected – and much-utilized – research library devoted to the history of Greene County and its families has existed in Waynesburg for 44 years now, the last 16 at a new building constructed by the county attached to the historic log courthouse on Greene Street. We are fully staffed, open six days a week all year long and home to more than 6,000 books, files, rolls of microfilmed newspapers, etc. But don’t take our word for it. Drop in, or visit us at cornerstonegenealogy.com.
