LETTER: Mum’s the word on McCain attacks
I agree with Gary Ford’s letter, “Enough is enough” (June 2) concerning President Trump’s attacks on John McCain.
Recently, I called my U.S. congressman, Guy Reschenthaler, to ask why he remains silent about the continued attacks. Reschenthaler touted his own military service (for which I thanked him) while running for office, but remains silent while a five-time “draft dodger” continues to assault McCain, a true patriot and American war hero.
Equally concerning and disappointing was Reschenthaler’s response to me: He completely ignored my question and went on to praise Trump and his policies. He obviously puts party above country, like so many of the Republican colleagues. Imagine if this were Barack Obama attacking McCain. Would they remain silent? I don’t think so.
