LETTER: Trump responsible for state of the country
In her Oct. 2 letter to the editor, Virginia Trois states that she is bewildered by what’s happened to our country, making it the “laughingstock of the world.” I agree that our country has lost respect from nations around the world, and the primary reason is Donald J. Trump and his Republican Party. His lawless behavior and constant abuse of presidential power has led to this current situation.
Ms. Trois states that Trump’s “loyal and great people are treated like criminals.” Maybe that’s because they are, and several of these great people are serving prison terms. His loyal Republicans turn a blind eye to his being a pathological liar (over 12,000 by last count); his outrageous tweets, and his unfounded vicious attacks on anyone who questions his misconduct.
She accuses the Democratic Party of trying to “foist” socialist and communist ideals on the American public. If she’s talking about ideals such as Social Security, free college education, workers compensation, Medicare and Medicaid, being pro-union, protecting women’s rights, universal health care, welcoming immigrants from depressed countries only seeking a better life for their families, I, for one, am all for the “foist!”
Trump has done nothing for Americans of lower/middle class except continue to make empty promises and embarrass us all.
I also “pray for the good sense of people and hope that there is change,” as Ms. Trois hopes.
I hope it comes either by impeachment or by the November 2020 election.
