LETTER: Columnist forgot history lesson

I must disagree with the commentary by Steven Webster published in the Nov. 8 edition of the Observer-Reporter, ”Emotional Frenzy: American voters are angry – that is a good thing for voter turnout, bad thing for democracy.”

Mr. Webster must have forgotten how angry our nation’s forefathers were about the British king’s dictatorial rule. They were willing to risk their lives and property to fight a war to establish our “democratic” republic.

All that level-headed Democrats and Republicans want is the right to vote out politicians who don’t share their concerns and their values. It might be a bad thing for the ruling elite, but how is that a bad thing for democracy?
