Why forgive student loans?

I would like to know why the media is pushing for forgiveness of student loans?

Graduates of colleges and universities knew they had to repay the loans every time they borrowed more money. They chose their majors and borrowed in excess of what their salaries could support after they graduated. Those choices were all theirs, and they need to live with them.

Can’t take that expensive vacation or buy that big house? Too bad.

They were an adult when they borrowed the money, and they are an adult now. They should act like it and pay their debt.
