LETTER: Resist surrendering your life to politics
Resist surrendering your life to politics
The daily barrage of media can often feel mentally exhausting. Switching on the news, it’s almost as if they’re telling us, “We have nothing new to report, but let’s reshape yesterday’s news in a creative narrative so it feels fresh, and keep you glued to your seat for hours.” This relentless cycle aims to keep our emotions – anger, anxiety, despair – front and center, for various reasons.
I get it, though. Some folks avoid the news altogether, so perhaps it’s novel for them. But these days, a brief morning update reveals that nothing truly new has transpired. So, it’s wise to switch off once you’re “in the know” and resist surrendering your life to politics. Stay steadfast in your mission, and only venture into the shadows when necessary. The sun eagerly awaits the spirit. It’s in these moments that genuine change takes root, when beautiful minds are out there, being beautiful.
