Washington County has little to offer
While our air quality may be improving, according to Jeff Kotula’s commentary in the Nov. 29 edition, our landscape is certainly not improving.
There is garbage lining the I-79 corridor going both north and south. The I-70 corridor is also covered in garbage in both directions, as are all the on/off ramps on both highways, to say nothing of other roads. City streets in Washington are terrible, and that’s an understatement. This is not a pleasing sight to visitors.
The residents of this area do not have a movie theater, and shopping is almost nonexistent as far as big-name stores go. Entertainment in general is lacking.
Kotula says that Washington County depends on emigration from Allegheny County and that is not enough. That’s a very fair point. So he further states we must attract people from outside Allegheny County, another fair point. But good luck with that, because Washington County has little to offer.
