Good news that Crown Castle is staying

1 min read

Crown Castle Inc. interim CEO Anthony Melone delivered some Christmas cheer last week to employees and Washington County, announcing that the company has stopped a plan to relocate 1,100 workers to its headquarters in Houston, Texas.

The plan would have been devastating and would likely have resulted in the closure of Crown Castle’s local operation, the county’s second-largest employer. They are also a staple of Southpointe.

There is much to celebrate with the announcement. No employees will be uprooted and have their lives disrupted, employees can remain in their jobs and prosper, and the county retains a tremendous company that brings great tax benefits to our local economy.

Good economic development in the county is not only about gaining new businesses but retaining the ones we have.

It’s exciting to think that Washington County can compete with Houston, Texas, for a company to stay in our area. Our quality of life, people, and tax base go a long way to make this a great place to work, live, and do business.

Welcome home.
