Putting country over party

1 min read

There’s a group called Republicans for Harris that includes several prominent GOP members and elected GOP officials.

Funny, but I’ve yet to hear of a conglomerate called Democrats for Trump. Nor did I see any Democrats stumping for the convicted felon at the GOP convention, as did Republicans Adam Kinzinger and Stephanie Grisham, who once served as Donald Trump’s White House press secretary, at Kamala Harris’s convention of hope and joy.

Also in Chicago speaking in support of Harris was Republican Olivia Troye, who resigned in disgust from her post in the Trump administration.

Then there’s former U.S. Rep. Denver Riggleman, who was once a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus that investigated the deadly Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection attempt. He called Trump “an inveterate liar” and “conspiracy theorist”.

Are they all RINOs (Republicans in Name Only)? Or are they patriotic Americans who put their country over their party?

For the sake of our nation’s continued democracy, we must bet on the latter and relegate Trumpism to the dung heap of American history.
