LETTER: Harris lost because of Gaza
In 2020, Joe Biden received just over 81 million votes, while Donald Trump received a bit over 74 million votes. In 2024, Trump received a little more than 76 million votes, while Kamala Harris received almost 74 million votes, underperforming Trump in 2020.
So, the question is where these 7 million Biden voters went? The most obvious answer is that they stayed home. And one of the reasons why is the Biden-Harris administration’s fueling of the war in Gaza.
According to Save the Children, the war has claimed the lives of over 3,000 children under the age of 5, which is almost certainly a severe undercount, since it only includes identifiable dead children, and not those tiny bodies unidentified or buried under rubble. Meanwhile, The Times of Israel has confirmed 14 children under the age of 10 were killed in the attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Fourteen is too many as far as I am concerned, but a far cry from the 40 beheaded babies Biden claimed to have seen.
Young people get their news from social media, and it offers raw video straight from the battlefield. Someone can only watch body parts of toddlers being extracted from rubble, or small children with vital organs hanging out from their bodies for so long before they come to the very reasonable conclusion that anyone who funds such carnage with public money is fundamentally evil incarnate and unworthy of their vote. It doesn’t matter how much they insist that the other guy is worse.
In the past, the Biden-Harris administration might have won the election despite its misdeeds. But young people have access to the unvarnished truth like never before and they made them account for their actions.
