Do the lives of animals matter more than children?
Last month, I read with interest the Observer-Reporter article, “Washington County officials, local Democrats call for controller to resign.”
Of course, this pertains to Washington County Controller April Sloane’s lack of care for her dog, which starved to death in late November. I, too, am appalled that someone would allow a pet to experience this lack of care.
However, I find it amazing that some of the same people who call for her resignation accept and often openly support the termination of babies’ lives.
Under the guise of “health care” and “reproductive rights,” millions of babies’ lives are terminated each year, to the relief of many who can now continue to go about their normal lives once again. However, once a baby is conceived, no person should be in the position to terminate that life just because they find it interrupts their life to see a baby is carried through to birth, possibly allowing a family wanting a child to adopt it.
Are the lives of animals really worth more to us than that of a child?
