Take away the keys
I don’t think that there was anyone who watched last Thursday’s presidential debate who could honestly conclude that they were not shocked by what they witnessed. It wasn’t really about former President Trump. You pretty much got what you expected. It was all about President Biden. And it was disturbing.
Unfortunately, nearly everyone experiences the physical and mental decline of acquaintances and loved ones as they age. There has to be adjustments for everyone’s sake, like it or not, and it is sad. Another frightening thing is that there is always a possibility that there is going to be some sort of sudden and unpredictable decline in the condition of the aging person. Regardless of what he has accomplished in the past or projects as his goals for the future, that is where we are with Biden.
Some notable Democratic supporters say Biden will rebound. Rebound to what? Age is cruel, there is no way to turn back the clock.
If the Democratic Party has any chance of putting a competitive, viable candidate on the ballot this fall, they better get started now. It is time to take the keys away and look for another driver.
