Biden lied, committed gaffes in debate
The gist of many recent letters and commentary as it relates to Donald Trump and Joe Biden is that Trump is an inveterate liar and Biden the paragon of truth and virtue.
Focusing on the first debate, Biden had some whoppers, not including a raft of gaffes, such as we have a “thousand trillionaires”; and he created 15,000 jobs.
In addition:
-He says he inherited an economy in freefall with 15% unemployment. The rate did hit 14.8% in April 2020, due to forced layoffs, but had dropped to 6.7% in December 2020, and continued to fall to below 5% a few months into 2021, as people returned to the workforce.
-The Russians have lost 500,000 troops in Ukraine. U.S. officials indicate total casualties, not deaths, on both sides of 500,000.
-There were 400,000 COVID-19 deaths under Trump. There are 1,189,000 and counting under Biden.
-Forty percent fewer people crossing the border illegally. Also, immigration now, “better than when he (Trump) left office.” Surreal.
-No U.S. troops have died anywhere around the world under his watch. Biden forgets the 13 Marines killed during his Afghanistan withdrawal debacle, and the three soldiers just killed in Jordan.
Of course, when Trump gets it wrong, it’s a damnable lie. When Biden does the same, it’s an honest mistake.
Afterall, Trump is a demon from hell and Biden is a kindly, confused old man having a senior moment.
