Have Christian principles changed?

2 min read

I find it stunning that any person with a scintilla of rationality and good sense could claim that Donald Trump “supports Christian principles”, but that is what Donna Henderson asserts in her May 9th letter, “Trump supports Christian principles”.

If Henderson is correct, then I assume that Christian principles have markedly changed since the beginning of the Trump era to include:

– Aligning oneself with bands of white supremacist thugs.

– Giving life to nutty and dangerous conspiracy theories.

– Standing up for some of the Nazi sympathizers who terrorized the city of Charlottesville, Va., in 2017, referencing them as “very fine people.”

– Engaging in sexual assault.

– Committing adultery.

– Denigrating women and judging them based on their physical appearance.

– Supporting the execution of a former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff for opposing Trump.

– Refusing to accept the result of elections that he loses and inciting a mob to violently attack the Capitol and the outnumbered law enforcement officers who were unfortunate enough to be there at the time.

– Opening the door to violence if he does not win the 2024 election.

– Having no understanding of or appreciation for those who sacrificed so much to serve in the military.

– Mocking those with a disability.

– Engaging in infantile name-calling of those who have dared to oppose him.

At least the writer acknowledges that Trump is “uncouth and brash”.
