LETTER: Sherman letter was misleading

Sherman letter was misleading

Nick Sherman’s letter to the editor on Friday was misleading. He stated he was proud to lead the fight against the referendum to change our form of government.

This was to be a study of government by an 11-member, nonpartisan commission of Washington County residents to do a study of all aspects of government. Whatever the group decided, which could have included a home rule charter, it would still have been placed on the ballot for a vote.

The same people who were against the study also spoke numerous times at past commissioner meetings on term limits for commissioners, which could have been part of this study.

Washington County residents were misled. They thought the home rule charter was on the ballot, and it actually was a study of all aspects of the government to see what works and what doesn’t.

Let’s be more transparent and tell all the facts to Washington County residents.
