LETTER: A vaccine needed for Trump Derangement Syndrome
The late Charles Krauthammer, the political columnist and psychiatrist, came up with the notion of “Bush Derangement Syndrome” in 2003 during George W. Bush’s presidency. It was defined as the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to policies and the very existence of the younger President Bush. This term is now used by supporters of Donald Trump to describe this same paranoia in the president-elect’s opponents.
Although it suggests a medical condition, it’s not a medical diagnosis and there is no medication that will help. I suspect the companies that gave us the COVID-19 vaccines would be eager to look at this condition. Their dilemma would only be how many boosters would be needed over the next four years.
The people have spoken and are tired of wokeness, pronouns and cancel culture. Cities and states are going bankrupt as taxpayer dollars are spent on hotel rooms, medical care and credit cards for those arriving at the southern border. People do not want boys dominating girls under the guise of sportsmanship. They don’t want to abolish the police and they want safe streets and communities. They don’t want mobs targeting stores to smash and grab.
If Trump can keep everyone’s daughter, sister, wife or mother safe from being kidnapped, brutalized, raped and murdered by someone who shouldn’t be here, then his presidency will be successful.
