Abortion has taken a toll on America
War is hell. That statement is attributed to William Sherman, a Union general who observed the death and destruction of war as he marched his troops through the South during the Civil War. War has certainly taken a toll on this country with a staggering number of American deaths.
World War I saw 117,000 Americans lose their lives. The number for World War II was 420,000, 37,000 for the Korean War, 58,000 in Vietnam, 300 in the Persian Gulf War, 2,400 in Afghanistan and 4,500 in Iraq. That’s close to 640,000 brave American men and women who have gaven their lives for this country since 1900.
The number of abortions in this country in 2023 was more than 1 million. More than one-and-a-half times the number of would-be Americans lost their lives in one year than all American soldiers over the last century.
According to government statistics, the number one cause of death in America in 2022 was heart disease with 702,880 deaths. This was followed by cancer with 608,371, accidents with 227,039, COVID-19 with 186,552 and stroke with 165,593 deaths.
Again, the number of abortions in this country in 2023 was over 1 million. This would make abortion the leading cause of death in America.
We mourn, honor and celebrate the men and women who sacrificed all for this country, and we should. We spend billions of dollars to treat, cure and eliminate these terrible diseases that devastate our country. And we should.
I find it disheartening that potential leaders of this country would embark on an “abortion bus tour” to celebrate the demise of the unborn child. Their thirst for more and more abortions is unquenchable.
Many politicians end their speeches by saying “God bless the United States of America” Well, He has. And He does. But sadly, the question is becoming “Why should He?”.
