Project 2025 has been garnering a lot of attention in the news lately. If you haven’t read it, you are not to blame. It is 920 pages long. It is divided into five general sections and covers 28 topics. It is the Republican Party blueprint to overhaul the federal government with Donald Trump as its authoritarian spokesperson.

Among other things it will place the Department of Justice directly under the president’s control, eliminate the Department of Education, destroy EPA regulations, tamper with Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act, eliminate the Head Start program, and replace 40,000 to 50,000 experienced federal employees with Trump sycophants.

I could go on and on, but I’m not here to deconstruct Project 2025. I’d like to simply point out how history repeats itself.

In the 1930s, another weak, narcissistic man promised the German people he would make them great again, so they could experience once again economic and cultural greatness from their mythological past. In the process, Adolf Hitler and his lackeys developed a process named “Gleichschaltung.” Translated, this is “same/circuit” or “master switch”. So you can see how Gleichshcaltung was used by the Nazi Party to synchronize its Master Plan. It was the master switch to control all aspects of German life. It destroyed the German Weimar Republic and unleashed chaos in Europe.

Today, we Americans have a choice. Do we want to preserve democracy? Or do we want the Republic of the United States to devolve into chaos like the German Republic of the 1930s?

The choice is clear. I choose democracy and Harris/Walz over the fascistic tyranny of the MAGA Republicans.
