We must defend democracy
Should there be any doubt now about Donald Trump’s narcissism, his lack of providing for the welfare of our citizens? I once heard him at one of his campaign rallies say, “I don’t care about you, I just want your vote.” And all of this does not even begin to describe his incompetence and dishonesty.
I’m pretty sure that Kamala Harris will win the presidency. She will be the first woman to hold that office and the second president to be of a multiracial background. In my mind, it is high past time that we’ve had a woman hold the most important office in our nation. When I look back through history, I see that with few exceptions men have run things. Well, we have made a mess of it, so it is time for women to take over.
Once Harris wins, Trump will begin to snivel that the election was rigged and stolen. From the smallest towns to the largest cities, and in Washington D.C., officials need to begin now to plan how they must react to Jan. 6-style insurrections we could see. It is a sorry statement to make, but we may well see civil war erupt.
If we are to survive as a democracy we need to call things by correct descriptive names, not some whitewashing words. And we must defend our government and the personnel who serve it.
